February’s Grammar Tip

What’s the difference “it’s” and “its”?

“It’s” = “it is” written as a contraction.

Example: She heard that it’s going to be a cold day.

“Its” = marks a possessive. We use “its” to show that something belongs to or refers to something.

Example: A ski mountain doesn’t make sense with its chairlift.
